History
The company was founded in 1973 as a separate department within Maxx Holding NV. From its early days, the aim was to offer intermodal solutions to customers in Europe and the rest of the world.
Since the fall of the Berlin Wall and the demise of the former Soviet Union, increased attention was given to the development of business activities in Russia and the former Soviet states.
There was a considerable expansion of the company’s activities towards the East with offices opened in Moscow (1995), Tashkent (1996), Almaty (1999) and St. Petersburg (2000). In addition, logistical services in Russia and the newly founded CIS were also set up.
By focusing on creating well-designed routings and the use of own equipment, MIS was at the forefront of shaping the logistical environment in the newly emerging markets. It quickly became one of the most outstanding and well-respected transport companies.
In 2005, the company was acquired by Rhenus and the first steps were taken to streamline the organisation.
Today, MIS continues to maintain its position as a major service provider for organizing container shipments to and from the CIS. New offices have been established, volumes have increased and the company’s status as a leading and innovative organisation within the Rhenus Group has been enhanced.
